Islamic Dua For Healing From Diseases

Prophet Ayub’s Dua

Prophet Ayub (Peace Be Upon Him) was a very wealthy man with a lot of land, animals, and children, all of which were taken away from him, and he was shortly hit with a skin ailment as a test from Allah SWT. He was suffering from worm-infested lesions.

He remained steadfast and patient, so Allah eventually relieved him of the disease after reciting this dua:

“Indeed, harm has afflicted me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy”

Arabic transliteration:

Rabbi annee massaniy ad-durru wa-anta arhamur-rahimin

Allah SWT listened to him and relieved his pains and brought back everything he has previously lost just because he was patient and never lost hope in reciting dua.

“So We listened to him: We removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his people to him, and doubled their number,- as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration, for all who serve Us.”

(Surah Al-Anbiyaa)

This dua is not only for curing diseases. You can also recite it when you are overtaken by adversity and distress, asking Allah SWT to remove affliction and calamities, and fulfillment of all types of needs.

Prophet Yunus’s Dua

This dua is Prophet Yunus’s (Peace Be Upon Him) dua when he was stuck in the belly of the whale in the darkness of the sea. He called Allah SWT to get him out of trouble until Allah SWT accepted his dua. This dua goes:

“There is no god except You; Glory be to You! Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.”

Arabic transliteration:

Laa ilaaha illaa anta subhaanaka innee kuntu minadh–dhaalimeen.

This dua was mentioned in the Holy Quran when Allah SWT was telling us the story of Prophet Yunus in Surah Al-Anbiyaa. You can also say this dua whenever you feel stuck at something, suffering from illness, or seeking Allah’s SWT help in your life problems.

We must be patient in waiting for Allah to accept our duas. Our misdeeds are erased by Allah’s might while we are in pain. So we must continue to recite dua while keeping our faith (yaqeen) that Allah, The Glorious, will reply to our dua. There should be no doubt regarding acceptance, and no objections to the moment of acceptance.
